What are the requirements for oil content in PSA oxygen generators

PSA oxygen generators are also called molecular sieve pressure swing adsorption oxygen generators. The core part of the equipment is molecular sieves, a porous adsorbent; this adsorbent can work continuously for 6-8 years under normal use conditions, but if it encounters water or oil erosion, it will cause the molecular sieve's adsorption capacity to decrease, or even molecular sieve failure.

Therefore, all PSA pressure swing adsorption oxygen generators have very strict control over water and oil in compressed air, and will do "subtraction" as much as possible.

In terms of source, the water in PSA oxygen generators mainly comes from raw air, and the sources of oil mainly include two types, one is the oil in the air compressor, and the other is the oil vapor in the air.

Common air compressors are piston type and screw type (micro-oil type). The characteristics of piston air compressors are low price and not durable. It includes oil-free piston air compressors and oil-containing piston air compressors. Among them, oil-free piston air compressors are conducive to reducing the oil content of compressed air, and oil-containing piston air compressors are not suitable for PSA oxygen generation. The characteristics of screw air compressors are high price, long service life, high gas production efficiency, low noise and low maintenance. Regardless of the type, the oil content of their final exhaust gas is between 0.01ppm and 5ppm, which is acceptable for the use of PSA oxygen generators. After a series of purification treatments, the oil content in compressed air can be controlled below 0.01ppm. Of course, if it is used in the fields of food, medical nitrogen filling and packaging, the system will make this value lower.

The other is the oil vapor in the raw air. Under normal conditions, the oil vapor content in the air will be within 0.01mg/m3. It meets the oil control standards of PSA oxygen generators, but if the oil vapor content is higher than 0.01mg/m3 in areas with serious automobile exhaust emissions and serious chemical pollution, it is necessary to configure compressed air oil removal and purification equipment to achieve technical oil-free or oil-free.

In summary, when the PSA oxygen generator is placed in an environment with little pollution and good ventilation, the use of a screw air compressor and an air purification and oil removal device can prevent the contamination of the molecular sieve by water and oil; but if it is placed in a place with high requirements for gas quality or serious pollution, it is necessary to configure a stable catalytic oil removal device at the rear end of the air compressor to reduce the oil content of the compressed air, thereby ensuring that the molecular sieve works continuously and efficiently in an ideal environment.
