The feasibility and importance of plateau oxygen enrichment for plateau hotels

Since the opening of the Qinghai-Tibet Railway, the traffic "bottleneck" that restricts the development of plateau tourism has been broken. Business travel has become very convenient, greatly reducing the "distance" between the plateau and the mainland. For a long time in the past, the plateau tourism industry has been in a natural economic state. Although in recent years, hotels and guesthouses, as important pillars of the plateau tourism industry, have increased investment and innovation in hardware and software facilities, there are still many hotels and guesthouses facing the weakness of "altitude sickness" of tourists. If it cannot be solved well, it will still greatly affect the development of the tourism industry.

The most direct and effective way to solve the "altitude sickness" is to supplement high-purity oxygen, also known as plateau oxygen enrichment; in simple terms, it is to increase the oxygen content in a closed space and continuously simulate the oxygen content environment at low altitudes, so that people in the space no longer have the trouble of hypoxia.

At present, the plateau oxygen enrichment oxygen supply technology is very mature, and the oxygen source part can be oxygen supplied by a pressure swing adsorption (PSA) oxygen generator or a cryogenic liquid oxygen storage tank. The difference between the two is that the oxygen supply of pressure swing adsorption (PSA) oxygen generator has good economic efficiency for long-term small and medium-sized oxygen demand, while liquid oxygen is suitable for long-term large-scale oxygen demand, but the later use cost is higher and will be subject to the supply and price changes of liquid oxygen; considering the economic efficiency of use, choosing pressure swing adsorption oxygen generator as the oxygen source will be a popular choice.

Although the pressure swing adsorption oxygen generator technology was only applicable to industry in the early days, it has been widely used in hospitals and other institutions since its development, and has gradually adapted to the characteristics of the construction industry, which has laid the foundation for its oxygen-enriched oxygen supply in plateau hotels. To explain that the plateau oxygen-enriched oxygen supply technology is completely feasible, let's start with the two oxygen supply methods of plateau oxygen-enriched oxygen supply;

Diffuse oxygen supply method: oxygen produced or stored by the central oxygen supply system (here refers to oxygen that meets medical standards) is supplied at the diffuse oxygen supply terminal in each area through the oxygen supply pipeline. The purpose is to increase the oxygen content in the oxygen supply room in a short time and provide a comfortable oxygen-containing environment similar to low altitude. Diffuse terminals can be divided into wall-mounted and concealed installation types. They are automatically controlled and do not affect the overall style of interior decoration. They are suitable for multiple people to supply oxygen at the same time.

Distributed oxygen supply method: The oxygen produced or stored by the central oxygen supply system (here refers to oxygen that meets medical standards) is transported to the distributed oxygen supply terminals in various areas through oxygen supply pipelines for oxygen supply. When people feel uncomfortable, they can directly connect oxygen masks or nasal oxygen tubes at the distributed oxygen supply terminals to breathe oxygen-rich gas directly. When oxygen is not needed, the oxygen supply terminal connector is directly closed and the system automatically stops supplying oxygen. It is generally suitable for single-person use, and the short-term oxygen enrichment effect is better than diffuse oxygen supply.

Although there are only the above two types, they are enough to solve the hypoxia problems of individuals and groups and have a certain degree of flexibility. Next, let's take a look at the actual oxygen enrichment effect; before that, let's talk about a few factors that affect the oxygen-enriched environment:


1.  Room oxygen enrichment level: Depending on the altitude and room size, different hotels require different oxygen concentrations, that is, the oxygen enrichment effect must be adjustable.

2. Oxygen consumption: Depending on the airtightness of the room, the number of users and the frequency of opening doors and windows, different oxygen consumption requires different oxygen supply amounts;

3. Oxygen supplementation: Appropriate oxygen concentration and oxygen flow are the basis for maintaining the indoor oxygen content at a reasonable level, and the system should be able to automatically monitor and determine whether the indoor oxygen content needs to be increased.

In the face of the above problems, the plateau oxygen-enriched oxygen supply system also provides corresponding solutions. Generally speaking, an oxygen-enriched system will have the following functions;

1. In high-altitude areas, the plateau oxygen-enriched oxygen supply system can achieve artificial atmospheric environment simulation of various environments and spaces at approximately normal altitudes. Among them, the oxygen flow rate and ambient oxygen concentration will be reasonably set according to the altitude and oxygen enrichment requirements.

2. The on-site oxygen-enriched generation system should have a medical device production license and a medical device registration certificate, and the oxygen-enriched system gas source should meet the human respiratory oxygen standards.

3. The oxygen-enriched system includes an environmental system that meets the relevant national building ventilation standards and fire safety standards, making the oxygen-enriched environment safe and reliable, and the indoor air always remains fresh and comfortable.

4. Scientific system configuration and oxygen content monitoring system can make the oxygen enrichment system run automatically; intelligently save the oxygen cost per unit volume and continuously establish a comfortable oxygen-enriched environment.

In addition, with the improvement of construction level, urban construction in plateau areas has also begun to adopt masonry frame structures with better airtightness, which can improve the airtightness of rooms. Therefore, as long as the frequency of door and window openings is reduced and the oxygen outlet is kept away from doors and windows, diffuse oxygen supply can better ensure the oxygen enrichment effect of the environment and reduce oxygen waste.

From this, we can see that the construction of plateau oxygen enrichment and oxygen supply projects is needed by the majority of hotels and guesthouses, and has high value and feasibility. It is of great significance to promote the development of the tourism industry in plateau areas.
